Find Your Center With These Easy Yoga Positions Perfect For Anywhere

How to Celebrate National Yoga Awareness Month

There are many ways to celebrate or participate in National Yoga Awareness Month. One way is geared to newcomers in particular. Throughout the entire month, many local yoga studios across the country are offering one week of free yoga so individuals who have never tried yoga can give it a shot. Additionally, numerous communities are hosting events that celebrate the health benefits associated with yoga.

Easy Yoga Positions to Relieve Stress at Work and Home

It’s no secret that many Americans live busy, stressful lives. Oftentimes, it can be difficult to find time for proper exercise, which is linked to reducing stress levels. That’s why yoga is so great. Yoga can be done virtually anywhere, including your work desk. By taking a few minutes each day to do a few effective yoga poses, you’ll likely see a decrease in your stress levels. Sound too good to be true? Well, out of the wide variety of yoga poses in existence, four, in particular, are conducive to do at your desk, and they have big results.

  • Wrist and Finger Stretches: Typing for hours on end can build tension in the fingers, hands, and wrists. Fortunately, this tension can be easily relieved by doing a few simple wrist and finger stretches.
  • Crescent Moon Pose: This pose is especially effective for those who spend long hours sitting at a desk. Far too often, people end up hunching over their desks, causing discomfort to the neck and shoulders. By doing the crescent moon pose, you’ll remedy your posture and improve your focus so you can be more productive.
  • Chair Pigeon Pose: Did you know many people cross their legs when seated? Unfortunately, this can cause imbalances in the lower spine and hips. The chair pigeon pose fixes this, though.
  • Desk Chaturanga: Don’t be afraid to use your desk as a tool. By doing this pose, you’ll end up relaxing the muscles in your neck while energizing and stretching out your arms. It also gets you out of your chair, and that’s always a good thing.

What do you think? Does your office promote or support yoga as a form of exercise?
