Pediatric Home Service (PHS), based in Roseville, Minn., is a home care agency that provides specialized services to children with complex medical conditions. As you can imagine, planning events for nurses who are out on home visits all day long is difficult, but the folks at PHS have found some simple ways to honor their nurses and make them feel appreciated. Throughout the week, nurses who come into the company’s head office will engage in a scavenger hunt, with the clues being rhymes that include tidbits of educational information and the prize being a little token—last year it was a pacifier. At the end of the week, nurses and staff are invited to connect and interact with each other as they enjoy a treat at an ice cream social.
