If you need a snack between meals, think about the food groups you haven’t been hitting with your meals so far that day. A whole piece of fruit, a handful of baby carrots, some nuts (a big handful or â…“ cup is approximately one serving) or some yogurt are excellent choices for filling gaps in your food group needs. What’s great about these snacks is that you can often buy them prepackaged in small, one-serving portions, making them easy to pack; if you forget to pack them, your hospital cafeteria is sure to offer something similar.
