3. An acknowledgment of something I’ve done right or done well lately. Too often, management takes the view that no news is good news. As a result, staff often only sees management when there’s a problem. The best manager I ever had made a point of complimenting good work the minute she saw it, and making sure she knew if somebody had gone above and beyond their duties. In my unit, we all make sure we give each other mad props, but it sure would be nice to hear it from the bosses.
