We’re constantly on the lookout for workplaces around the country that are actively hiring nurses so we can bring them to you. In addition to simply highlighting job openings, we hope to provide tips and ideas that will help improve your nurse job search if you’re looking for a new employer.

So though we’ve focused on jobs on the East Coast here, you may find a couple of great takeaways no matter what part of the country you’re in–unless, of course, you’re inspired to uproot and head east!

Do you know a workplace that is actively hiring? Do you work at an exceptional workplace or have a question about a potential employer? Visit The Nurse’s Guide to Hospitals to rate, review and ask your questions in the comments! The Scrubsmag.com community will help you find the answers.

MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital
Leonardtown, Md.

This is an example of how it might be better to research which hospitals are receiving money rather than which ones are actively hiring. MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital recently received a grant to continue its “Get Connected to Health Mobile Clinic,” a venture to serve uninsured and underinsured patients in St. Mary’s County, Maryland.

The grant was used to hire a nurse practitioner for the mobile clinic. And though the position has already been filled, the news highlights the need not only for nurse practitioners to expand the health services of many clinics, but also the importance of following where healthcare grants are going in all areas of the country.

For those who are in the area, MedStar St. Mary’s currently has numerous other nurse positions open on its website.

UnitedHealthcare of the Carolinas
Greater Triad Area, North Carolina

This listing highlights that you shouldn’t always limit your job search exclusively to hospitals and clinics. UnitedHealthcare of the Carolinas recently announced that it would be hiring nearly 600 positions, including 125 “frontline clinical personnel, such as registered nurses and nurse practitioners.”

These positions will be part of the healthcare company’s new HouseCalls program. Certainly, this type of position won’t be the right fit for every nurse, but this does offer another avenue for nurse job seekers to explore.
