Super union for nurses coming soon

The three largest nurses organizations in the U.S. – California Nurses Association/National Nurses Organizing Committee, United American Nurses, and Massachusetts Nurses Association will be merging to form National Nurses United come early December, according to Medical News Daily:

“I have spent so many years learning the history of how and why the nurses in this country have been split apart. I am both relieved and ecstatic to find it really doesn’t matter now. We have the will and the combined drive to move forward, and we are,” said Jean Ross, RN, president of the Minnesota Nurses Association, and UAN Secretary-Treasurer.

The unification process is planned to culminate in Scottsdale, Arizona in early December.

The immediate focus for UNN will be to build representation campaigns for non-represented nurses and as well as protecting safe nurse-to-patient staffing ratios.
