A new study contains great news for nurses as far as salary is concerned. The Physicians Practice 2012 Staff Salary Survey looks at information from 1,268 respondents, including nurse practitioners, registered nurses and nurse managers.
Nurse practitioners top the salary list, and experience is a key element of the salaries of all nurses. The average salary for nurse practitioners with more than 20 years of experience is $90,794.77, while practitioners with three to five years of experience are averaging $80,903.30.
The news for registered nurses is good as well. Those with three to five years of experience have an average salary of $50,964.64, while those with more than 20 years of experience are earning $65,045.15. Nurse managers with 11 to 20 years of experience had a slightly higher average salary than RNs at $67,280.55.
Of course, there are many determining factors in how much nurses actually make in these positions, and the region of the country where they are working is one of the biggest.
