Strike creates tension between nurses

The Minnesota Nurses Association (MNA) and 14 Twin Cities hospitals have reached a tentative contract agreement, but lingering bad feelings remain. At least three nurses who worked during the June 10 strike say they have received harassing letters from the MNA.
Maria Ruhl, Karen Hermann and Mary Sue Moe quit the union prior to the planned walkout. All three, employees of Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota, worked during the 24- hour strike. All three received letters from the MNA saying that they may subject to reprimand, censure and expulsion.

The MNA says the letters were a mistake, but the nurses aren’t convinced. They’ve filed a complaint with the National Labor Relations Board.

The three nurses are experiencing stress at work as well, with some nurses refusing to look at or speak to them.

Have you ever crossed a picket line? Would you treat a nurse who did differently?
