In appreciation of nurses who tirelessly care for patients and their families with compassion every day of the year, health care system, Dignity Health collaborated with musician and recording artist Ernie Halter to recognize nurses by literally singing their praises with an original ‘Song of Gratitude’.
The footage was captured during National Nurses Week in May. To creatively recognize nurses during this week-long celebration, Dignity Health collected more than 600 inspiring stories and selfless acts of kindness by nurses across its facilities, all submitted by their peers. Five nurses were then selected from the hundreds of stories, and Halter surprised each of them at their respective hospital throughout National Nurses Week. He serenaded them with a heartwarming melody inspired by their individual stories, the song serving as a sincere and musical ‘thank you’ note for their hard work, generosity, and compassion.
Whether helping a new nurse, going the extra mile to make a patient as comfortable as possible, leading a team dance at the end of every shift, or holding a baby through a treatment when the mother couldn’t, these stories are a reminder of the powerful and positive role of a nurse in society.
