Social media use growing among nurses

0

Healthcare consumers — and professionals — are increasingly looking for healthcare information online.
A new study by Nicholson Kovac, Inc. examined media usage by nurses.  While the results indicate that nurses (and doctors) are still about a year behind the general public in adopting social media, 87% of nurses surveyed reported using the Internet for professional reasons.  77% have visited Facebook and a quarter has visited LinkedIn, a professional networking site.  Just 11% of nurses report using Twitter, a global micro-blogging and instant messaging site, compared to 20% of the general population.

Nurses, however, seem aware of social media’s potential:  65% of nurses surveyed plan to use social media in the future for professional reasons.
