I have officially signed all my new-hire paperwork! Yesterday I got my first taste of life as a nurse! Although it wasn’t the same as experiencing floor nursing, it was the first time I felt like, “hey, I have a career, and I know what I am doing!” (sort of!).  While I am relishing the time off before the program starts, I am starting to get really exciting about this new chapter in my life.
I got to have a chat with my manager about starting, what to expect, who my preceptors were going to be, and while she was talking about skills lab days and explained that my first day on the floor was in the first week (yikes!) I started to feel that growing ball of excitement forming in my gut. Those same butterflies that I felt when I changed majors, the ones that crept up the day I got accepted to nursing school, and stayed with me until I started that first day.  It’s been a while, but they’re back!

There are so many mixed emotions about it all, but mostly, I can’t believe I am finally here! I made it through it all and on the cusp of a new career, ready to make a name for myself in the world of pediatric nursing. A new chapter in life.  I made it happen with the grace for God, and I can’t WAIT to turn the page and read on!

Ani Burr, RN

I'm a brand new, full-fledged, fresh-out-of-school RN! And better yet, I landed the job of my dreams working with children. I love what I do, and while everyday on the job is a new (and sometimes scary) experience, I'm taking it all in - absorbing everything I can about this amazing profession we all fell in love with.
