“I’m on an airplane and mention that I’m a nurse and therapist. The lady next to me gives a most extensive family history of diabetes, treatments, current dilemmas. I tell her I’m not a physician but think consultation and even second opinions would be helpful. She does not let up.

Even after I go to the bathroom, she continues, and finally I pick up a book and tell her I must read it before landing because I’m presenting a class. Of course, she wants to know what I’m teaching and we’re off again. Five hours of chatter later, I arrive, happy for the silence of getting into a cab. The driver wants to know where I’m from and what I do, and I tell him I need to rest.”
