Nurse Stops to Help After Shots Fired, Car Crash in Summerlin

Police say a nurse stopped to help during a shooting in the Summerlin neighborhood early Wednesday morning.

A man was driving north on Hualapai Way south of Town Center Drive with his girlfriend when the two got into an argument around 12:30 a.m., said Lt. David Gordon with Las Vegas Metropolitan Police.

The man allegedly had a gun in his hand and was shooting into the air., Gordon said.

The man lost control and the vehicle went off-road, crashing into a tree. A nurse who was heading home stopped to provide help immediately afterward.

“While assisting the occupants, she noticed a handgun in the vehicle,” Gordon said “The courageous nurse retrieved the handgun from the vehicle and handed it to patrol officers who arrived a short time later.”

The man was arrested, and there were no serious injuries reported.
