Starting a job can be stressful but going to work in the ER can leave anyone running to their mom for comfort and relief.
Sunny Brooke recently started her dream job of working as a nurse in the ER. However, she lost her mother and expressed her sadness that her mom will never be able to see her rise to the occasion as a healthcare provider.
After landing her first job as a nurse, Brooke took to TikTok to share the good news. “Can you guys just pretend to be my mom for a minute?” she says in the video.
“It’s the job I wanted for a long time,” she confides. But it wasn’t the same without her mom around. She started working in the same facility where her mom started working many years ago.
“Yes, this is the same ER you worked in for like 16 years,” she says tearfully about how she followed in her mother’s footsteps to become a nurse.
She admits that she is nervous and still has a lot to learn and wishes her mom were still here to help her prepare.
“I’m pretty bummed that you’re not there,” she confesses. She says she would have enjoyed working with her mom. “That would have been cool. I know we butted heads a lot, but I would have liked to have learned this stuff from you,” she says.
“But they still have your picture in the break room,” Brooke continues, adding that it’s kind of like her mom is there with her. “I hope you’re proud…love you…bye!”
Brooke finally got her wish when hundreds of nurses and mothers started filling up her post with heartfelt comments and tributes to her mother. The video has since been viewed over 1.6 million times.
“As a mama, I can tell you your mom is glowing with pride watching you succeed,” one TikTok viewer wrote.
“Mama is so proud of you! Congrats! You’re amazing!” another user commented.
“I’m not your mom, but I’m a mom. And I’m really proud of you. I know she would be too,” another supporter wrote.
Another comment reads, “Baby girl, this is amazing news! So proud of you. I’ve been watching you for a while and I know you’re going to be amazing!!!”
“From every mom everywhere…good job sweetheart!! You got this!” declared another commenter.
“Congratulations, my dear. I am so proud of the woman that you have become. I’m sorry I’m not there beside you, but I am always with you in your heart,” wrote another person pretending to be her mother.
