A nurse who lost her legs and an arm was found dead by her husband. Jaynie Carpenter, 53, was left with just one limb after she contracted sepsis four years ago.

Known as a frequent traveller, Carpenter been raising money to get a pioneering limb surgery that is not available on the U.K.’s publicly-funded National Health Service. She raised over $35,000 of her $485k target when she died after saying that life was not enjoyable.

Rob, 56, was heartbroken after he recieved a call from his wife to pick up their dog. He found her dead when he arrived at their home in Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales after 4.30pm in December 2020

Robert paid tribute to his wife at the hearing, calling her an “amazing” person and added “the brightest star in my sky has burnt out”. Jayne had been desperate to lead an active lifestyle despite her medical complications, but she lost all of this after a night.

Jayne developed sepsis in 2016 after going to the doctor with a cough, and was diagnosed with pneumonia while in the hospital. She spent two months in a coma, her legs and one arm were amputated because of the illness.

After her amputations, Mr Carpenter said his wife “put all her effort into regaining her life” and “she amazed us as a family”. However, he noticed “a sudden decline” in Jayne’s mental health in Novermber 2019. That’s when she started to drink alcohol more often.

Jayne felt that the Covid pandemic stopped her from enjoying things that were important to her. From toxicology reports, it shows that she had a large quantity of alcohol in her system, but the police said they found no suicide note.
