October has been a pretty busy month for me. I left a job I did not like, and am starting a new job that I hope will be my new home for a long time. I helped my daughter get ready for Halloween, and those of you that have, or ever had a four year old daughter know that is a huge job.  But the month important thing I did all month was probably today.
I don’t think I have ever talked about it before, but my mother is a breast cancer survivor. She has been in remission for about 8 years after chemotherapy and radiation. She was extremely courageous and had continued to fight to this day to help other women as well.
Today, my wife and I took part in a fund raising event called Barbells for Boobs. It is to raise money for an organization known as Mammograms in Action, providing mammograms to underserved women.Â
We have tried to do everything we could to be involved as well. We have done runs and walks. But this year, we have taken up a new fitness program and have become very involved in strength training, or weight lifting. Today’s event was all weight lifting.
Just knowing that I was there celebrating my mothers bravery, and helping other women in their battles was inspiring. And seeing all the others there doing the same, was amazing.
