Jessica Gillilan entered the University of Alabama Capstone College of Nursing knowing that nursing was her calling. This was because Jessica had seen the kindness nurses showed to her cousin and best friend during their final days of battling cancer. Jessica’s academic excellence and volunteer work at her church and at the Good Samaritan Clinic – where she provided clinical services for up to 20 hours each week for three years to patients in the Tuscaloosa area who had no insurance and limited income – taught her the importance of compassion, perseverance and knowledge in the nursing profession.
