Too soon?  I love the holiday season.  I love everything about it.  From decorating to shopping and my most favorite of all; the music!!  I know, some of you may think I am nuts.  I am not sure if my fondness of the holidays comes from the happy childhood memories I have of this time, or the fact that my mom always did Christmas “Big.”  The economy has taken a beating in the past few years, so we are really going to have to scale things back.

I know that the holidays are not about gifts, but I love to give!! I love shopping for my nieces, nephews, and family.  There is something so magical about a child opening a Christmas present!!! I am not sure if we are going to be able to do it all this year!  I have to figure something out!!  How are some of the ways you and your family are cutting back this holiday season? Please share any ideas or suggestions!!

So, with the holidays around the corner, I am faced with the reality that my just turned 8 year old has been questioning me about the “Big Man.”  How did my baby get so big? Where did the time go?  This makes me so incredibly sad that this is probably his last year believing!!!

I guess my husband and I are lucky he believed this long!! Some kids rat out the secret to other kids way earlier!!  However, my son is a bit naive, and   I guess we are just really good liars here in the Gilbert Household!  We do have our one year old, but he is too young to grasp the concept….I am not sure he ever will with his cognitive limitations.  How old was your child when they figured out that ol’ Kris Kringle was just ol’ mom and dad?
