3. Study hard, and get good grades.

Especially if your previous educational history is a bit spotty, it really pays to get good grades when taking your prerequisite classes. Nursing schools look at a wide variety of things when judging applicants (grades, extracurricular activities, essay quality, test scores, etc.), and good grades show determination and knowledge that can set you apart from the crowd. And since getting into nursing school can be quite competitive, anything that makes your application shine helps.
