5. Request a transfer to another department
This is absolutely a last resort, but for some nurses it’s the only way to maintain sanity if a doctor is making life miserable. If you can’t avoid a doctor who’s yelling at you daily, calling you names, or being an absolute control freak, it may be time to look for a way out. Perhaps you can transfer from the ER to obstetrics, the recovery room or a different hospital entirely.
Hopefully it won’t come to that, and in most cases it won’t. This drastic step is only required when a doctor is overbearing in all interactions and won’t stop acting this way, regardless of what steps you take. In most cases, even the most grumpy, entitled physicians have a human side, and with the right tactics the situation will work itself out.
