How does your salary compare to nurses in the Southern U.S?

Are you happy with your salary? We know. This is a loaded question. There are many factors that play into a nurse’s salary — experience, specialty, type of facility, you name it. And at the end of the day, we at Scrubs have yet to meet a real nurse who measures his job satisfaction just by the size of his pocketbook. That said, it never hurts to know how your take home pay compares to that of other nurses.

One additional important factor, of course, that can determine a nurse’s salary is location. This week in the Code Happy App, we spotlighted salaries for nurses living in the Southern United States.

You might be surprised how these RNs, Nurse Managers and Nurse Practitioners are compensated. According to physicianspractice.com, here are the salary breakdowns from a 2012 survey:

  • RNs in the Southeast make an average salary of $52,937.96
  • Nurse Managers in the Southeast make an average salary of $60,944.73
  • RNs in the South-Central U.S. make an average salary of $53,556.62
  • Nurse Managers in the South-Central U.S. make an average salary of $56,511.56
  • Nurse Practitioners in the South-Central U.S. make an average salary of $86,667.78
