This week on patch.com, one nurse tells her story about her experience as a 9/11 volunteer nurse. Massapequa resident Yvonne Cook drove into Manhattan with a fellow nurse immediately after the planes struck the twin towers. She remembers a feeling of deep frustration at her inability to do more, as there was nothing anyone could do until the bodies had actually been pulled from under the wreckage. Here is her unforgettable take away from that day:

“I have even more compassion for people, and feel more the need to help others,” Cook said. “When that happened, the world came together, but you should never stop helping people in need.” (patch.com)

Ten years after the tragedy, share with us how the events of 9/11 still affect you as a caregiver. Leave your thoughts in the comments.
