Morehead Consulting Services, a self-described “human capital research” firm, is advertising a free webinar to explore, “which comes first — a high performance environment or high-performing RNs?”
A lot of research has linked nurse satisfaction (and dissatisfaction) to work environment. If nurses’ workloads are manageable and they feel appreciated and respected, nurse satisfaction is high. If workloads are overwhelming or nurses labor in hostile or otherwise abusive environments, morale — and performance — is generally low. Further research has found that the typical nurse work environment is even a threat to patient safety.
But we want to hear your opinion on this chicken-and-egg question: Which comes first, a high performance environment or high-performing nurses? What would you describe as a high performance environment?
