Lashawn Ireland, RN and Mary Nolan, RN, both nurses with the Aflac Center and Blood Disorders Service of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, have received the Laura Snitzer-Boozer Nursing Award.  The award honors nurses who have demonstrated professional excellence and leadership in pediatric cancer care and provides financial support for continued education in the field of oncology.  Ireland and Nolan will each receive a scholarship to attend a nursing conference of their choice.
Laura Snitzer-Boozer was an Aflac Cancer Center nurse who unexpectedly died in 1999.  The awards recognize Laura’s strong committment to continuing education.

The 2009 Continuing Education Award, a recent addition to the Laura Snitzer-Boozer Award, went to Lisa Fisher, RN and Audrey Grizzle, RN.
