5. Good nurses make inspiring mothers.  Lillian Carter spent her life as a strong minded nurse in Georgia, dedicating herself to both the white and black communities. At the age of 68, Miss Lillian (as she came to be known) trained and spent time as a peace corps volunteer in India.  Below is a heartfelt anecdote told by Lillian Carter’s son, former president, Jimmy Carter in an interview with Tavis Smiley while on promotion for his book about his mother’s work:
