Your Care Plan: A Nurse’s Guide for Healthy Living, by Julia Buss, RN, MS, is perhaps the first healthy living book aimed directly at nurses.
Despite the fact that nurses know the basic of good health, nurses as a whole tend to be less than healthy. Fifty four percent of nurses are overweight or obese. Eighteen percent of nurses smoke. And many nurses have a tendency to care for others at the expense of their own health and well-being.
Buss, a Registered Nurse since 1991, understands the unique challenges faced by nurses and has written a book that considers nurses’ crazy lives. While much of the advice sounds familiar — eat more fresh foods, avoid extra sugar and exercise — nurses will appreciate Buss’ professional insight.
