He goes from Africa to Madagascar to New Zealand to Australia as the clueless member of a team of international conservation experts who are filming a documentary on endangered species. Although the book is still in print, look for a first edition in a used bookstore: the first run contains a very, very funny scene with a venomous snake expert which is shortened (to poor effect) in later editions.
