Over on our Facebook page, we’ve got a conversation brewing about the best nursing related phone apps. One of the nominees for best app is Epocrates, which is not just an app but an online destination and mega medical tool.

Their mission statement: “At Epocrates, our vision extends beyond the point of care to create a better life for healthcare professionals, patients and clients. Our products and services support our mission by offering a diverse range of tools and resources that are easy to use, trusted and reliable.” We’re focusing on their “Essentials” app, but they have several others you can check out on their site. The site itself is also chock-full of helpful information, and is free to use!

Watch a demo of the app here:

What nurses love about it:

“The disease monographs are very beneficial as are the drug adverse reactions and the ability to find interactions between multiple drugs” –Alan Zlato, epocrates.com

“Use it at least 10+ times daily. Still haven’t used all of its functionality. It’s my peripheral brain. Highly satisfied.” –Freeman, epocrates.com

“Since I was able to use the app for the iPhone, I have found it so easy to access relevant information, no matter where I am. The app loads quickly, information is found within seconds and the visual tabs are the best I’ve seen in a long time.” —Matilda M.

Learn more about the app:
