As a nurse, you give so much of yourself to others who need you every single day on the job. But even off the clock, nurses are working tirelessly to make the world a better place!
In the Fall 2013 issue of Scrubs, we introduced you to the Angels in Waiting program, a non-profit organization started by NICU nurse Linda West-Conforti. Angels in Waiting enables nurses to foster medically fragile children who might otherwise end up in group homes without any semblance of a normal life (let alone the specialized care they need).
Says West-Conforti, who ended up adopting two of the children she initially fostered, “These kids slam-dunk your heart.” West-Conforti and all of the Angels in Waiting are slam-dunking our hearts!
