Together with nurse influencer Martha Salmon, Scrubs is taking its show on the road in support of Hispanic nurses and the issues that affect them.
The 44th Annual National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN) Conference takes place July 16 to 19 at the Peppermill Resort in Reno-Tahoe, Nevada. The theme is “A Climate of Change: Nurses Taking Action to Achieve Health Equity,” and the event features keynote speakers Susan B. Hassmiller, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Senior Adviser for Nursing; environmental health expert Katie Huffling; and Jackie Baras, a leader in LGBT healthcare.
It kicks off Tuesday afternoon with a pre-conference workshop, student welcome and orientation, a keynote on the Latinx role in the future of nursing, and a welcome reception.
Wednesday and Thursday feature speeches, sessions, and exhibitors in the Expo Hall, including Scrubs Magazine. We’re sending a reporter to cover the conference and talk with participants at our booth, where we’ll be joined by Martha Salmon, a pediatric transplant nurse and founder of #LatinaRN, a movement to inspire and support Latinxs in nursing.
Stop by booth #506 to chat with us about stories you’d like to see in Scrubs Magazine, talk to Martha about her journey and movement, and pick up some information and swag from our sponsors, Cherokee Medical Uniforms, Dickies Medical, ELLE Medical, and Heartsoul Scrubs. Reno Uniforms, a local scrubs store near the conference center, will also be on hand to preview some of our favorite summer styles.
The conference continues through Friday evening, with a Gala Reception, Awards Dinner, and Celebration. Ticket prices are based on NAHN Membership type and include student discounts. Participants may register at the conference desk at the Peppermill Resort. For more information, visit www.nahnnet.org.
