NYT’s ‘well’ nurse gets swine flu

Theresa Brown, RN, contributing writer to the New York Times’ Well blog shares her story about being infected with the swine flu. While hospital protocol requires that medical staff infected with the flu are not to return to work at least seven days after onset of symptoms, the fear is that it could leave hospitals severely understaffed. Theresa also shares her feelings that many health providers struggle with – that they should not be the ones getting sick.
