Your worst days and weakest moments

Your worst days and weakest moments are what determine success or failure in the battle against the bulge and your efforts to have a healthier you.

Say what?

We all have them. Good days (or great days) and those horrible moments of weakness and lack of motivation. The good days are easy. You’re feeling healthy. You have all the energy you need to take on the day and make those difficult decisions. You make the healthy choices. You exercise or participate in your chosen activity. You get the proper amount of sleep. A ‘no-guilt’ and successful kind of day.

Yeah, that was the easy part.

The hard part is those days when you have no energy to fight the good fight. You rather have the fast-food or easy-fix calorie-saturated meal. Your sweet tooth is in over-drive and all you want to do is eat more. On top of that you could care less about exercising or any activity. You motivation level is actually negative and you’re perfectly happy being quite the couch potato. And any mention of ‘healthy’ or ‘exercise’ angers and annoys you. In fact you get spiteful at those who are attempting to be healthy, or help you get back on track.

Any of this sound familiar?

So why do the bad days matter more than the good days? It’s very simple. It is all about consistency. Nothing more, nothing less. Just because you were successful on Day 1, 2 and 3 doesn’t mean you get to throw your hard work down the drain on day 4, 5, 6 or 7.(Ever ‘let it go’ on the weekends?)  The more consistent you are – the more likely you are to see those results you are working towards.

Everyone always wonders why a certain ‘program’ or ‘change’ didn’t get you the results you wanted. It’s the bad days that stopped you from reaching your goal. The bad days are put there for you to decide how bad you want it.

A moment of weakness and a bad day are the difference between making or breaking a goal. Those bad days are also the difference between achieving or exceeding your goal. I like to consider those ‘bad’ days and ‘weak’ moments brick walls.

The brick walls are there for a reason. They lets us prove how badly we want things. – Randy Pausch

Best of luck on your journey!
