Blue scrubs that won’t give you the wardrobe blues

0
Blue seems to be one of the most commonly chosen colors for hospital dress codes. Requiring all nurses to wear the same basic color has the potential to take uniformity to the point where it drowns out personality. This doesn’t have to happen! Scrubs designers offer plenty of styles that meet dress code requirements for blue without being blah. Here are a few top picks.

Square Neck Top

Blue Jean Baby

This lightweight denim scrubs top is part of Dickies’ New Blue collection. All the top stitching, tucking and pleating around the square neckline adds texture and draws attention up to your face. This top is available in both light and dark blue washes. You can match these with Dickies’ pintuck pocket pant in the same fabric and shade. This scrubs bottom has a short side vent just above the hem to flare out over shoes without looking too “Western.”

V-Neck Top

The new Skechers APS Solids collection provides four different blue hues (if you count peacock blue), so you can certainly locate a shade that complements your complexion. Talk to any cosmetic counter assistant to find out what color undertones are in your skin. If your skin has warm or peachy undertones, pick the light blue (almost aqua) top. If you have dark hair and blue undertones in your skin, choose a dark, rich blue. This top is designed for a great fit and superior performance with stretch and moisture-wicking fabrics. If you haven’t tried kangaroo pockets yet, this is definitely a scrubs style to add to your wardrobe.

Phat Cat Scrubs

V-Neck Top

This BabyPhat V-neck top from the Just Stitches collection is one of several blue styles from this manufacturer. Some are sporty, others are classic. This one is just a little slinky. The BabyPhat cat logo is featured prominently on one sleeve. Decorative stitching adds gloss and shine to the pockets and yoke. This top is available in ceil blue as well as darker hues.

Woven Woman

Square Neck Top

As you’d expect, Cherokee has a wide selection of blue tops that are dress-code friendly. Here’s one that toes the line with a solid color but flaunts originality with an intricately interwoven ribbon neckline above a lightly gathered bust line. The tops of the front patch pockets slant slightly downward at the outside edges to keep the lower half of the scrubs top from looking too square. The brushed poly-cotton blend features a “soil release” finish. So, when you get home and toss this top in the wash, you can feel confident that it will come out looking fresh and clean.
