Apps for nurses: Epocrates Essentials

Over on our Facebook page, we’ve got a conversation brewing about the best nursing related phone apps. One of the nominees for best app is Epocrates, which is not just an app but an online destination and mega medical tool.

Their mission statement: “At Epocrates, our vision extends beyond the point of care to create a better life for healthcare professionals, patients and clients. Our products and services support our mission by offering a diverse range of tools and resources that are easy to use, trusted and reliable.” We’re focusing on their “Essentials” app, but they have several others you can check out on their site. The site itself is also chock-full of helpful information, and is free to use!

It’s an all-in-one clinical reference suite that’s the company’s most popular product. It provides you with searchable drug and disease monographs, and diagnostic tools. You can customize your homepage for quick access to the features you use most often.

There are six main sections: drug information, drug interactions, pill ID, app directory, disease information and diagnostic/lab tests.
