It’s tough being a nurse and trying to be “healthy,” isn’t it?

You hear those 9-5ers talk about how they had a session at the gym, made a nutritious dinner for the family and still had time for the latest episode of Grey’s before getting a full 8 hours of sleep. But we nurses barely have enough time to scarf some Doritos at 3 AM in between ringing call bells, let alone cook a complex and healthy meal to bring with us to work.

Well, we here at Scrubs are here to help you get back on track and find a balance between working and staying healthy. Believe us…even though it sounds impossible, it can be done! Today we want to share these four helpful, healthy, in-a-hurry meals. They’re meant to be made quickly, are easy to transport and are perfect if you have to come and go between each bite. Sounds pretty great for nurses, no?

 1. Grilled Veggie Hummus Wraps

Why we picked it: Hummus is a great and healthy spread to use on any wrap. Its healthy fats and protein will keep you going for longer, as well as curb your appetite on those long shifts. Plus, this is ready in 20 minutes flat!

2. Easy Grilled Chicken Salad

Why we picked it: This salad is a powerhouse of flavor! The healthy fats found in the pecans and olive oil will keep you alert. Plus, this is one of those dishes that’s good both cold and hot…so you can come back to it if your “lunch” is interrupted by a call bell or two.

3. Rotisserie Chicken with Peaches, Walnuts and Basil

Why we picked it: This recipe features store-bought rotisserie chicken (a massive time saver!). The peaches really add a lot of flavor as well. This recipe is ready in less than 15 minutes, which gives you more time with your family and/or TiVo.

4. Balsamic-Glazed Chicken and Bell Pepper Sandwiches

Why we picked it: A new twist on a classic grilled cheese! The balsamic vinegar adds a hint of sweetness to this sandwich that we just love. Quick, easy and delicious!

What’s your favorite healthy, quick meal?
