Amid the ease of travel in our global landscape, the reality is simple; as technology continues to evolve, and economies grow and contract relative to national markets, the availability of technologically advanced medical services, combined with an ultra-affordable price tag, fuels international travel for people looking for a better option.

Mexico Receives More American Patients Than Any Other Country

Mexico’s proximity to the USA and Canada make it a favorable destination for people seeking health services at an affordable price. But are the facilities, services and doctors consistent with western standards?

Similar to the ease of USA and Canadian patients visiting Mexico, Mexican doctors frequently have elaborate medical training in the States. As the medical tourism industry continues to grow, US-based hospitals are even making the border jump.

International Hospital Corporation of Dallas currently operates four hospitals south of the border.

Christus Health Systems, a texas based organization, currently operates seven hospitals in Mexico under the Christus Muguerza name.

Beyond familiar hospitals straddling the USA and Mexico border, several top-rated, Mexican-owned hospital chains (notably Star Médica and the Los Ángeles chain) are popular.

If affordable price and familiar institutions aren’t enough of a deciding factor to head south for medical treatment, patients often report of more accommodating doctors spending more time with their patients, state of the art medical settings, and access to technology driven procedures not currently available in the States.

Malaysia Is The World’s Destination For Medical Care

More than 80% of medical tourists traveling to a foreign country arrived in Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia. However, neighbors of Malaysia (including Thailand, and Singapore) frequently travel to Malaysia to utilize healthcare services. Why?

Malaysia offers state of the art medical services at a fraction of the price of neighboring hotspots for medical tourism. But let’s be honest, there is a greater reason that people are flying here from around the world.

Malaysia’s major cities, Penang and Kuala Lumpur are both international airline hubs with access from cities the world over. Affordable amenities mean you can book longer and afford 5-star accommodations while recovering. Plus, when arriving here, most nationalities receive a 3-month visa.

Ease of access, plus recognition from the United States for healthcare through Joint Commission International (JCI)–seen as the gold standard for healthcare service providers around the world–makes Malaysia one of the most desirable locations in the world for healthcare services.
