10 offbeat stress-relief ideas for work and after your shift

AFTER WORK

1. Spend time with your furry friends.
“I find that the best stress reliever is simply spending time with my Nubian goats,” says STNA Amanda Young. “They are such clowns and very affectionate. I love going to the barn and sitting on a bucket while they try to climb in my lap. 🙂 And they don’t judge me when I tell them about my day.”

Nubian goats, golden retrievers, turtles—whatever suits your taste. Experts say that pets have proven to help reduce stress, depression and blood pressure. If owning a pet is too much of a commitment, other options include volunteering for an animal rescue group by helping with adoption events or providing temporary foster care for adoptees. Or how about “renting” your friend’s dog or cat for a weekend?
